M25 - Ministry

“Then the King will say to those on the right, `Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.  For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink.  I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home.  I was naked, and you gave me clothing.  I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.'  Then these righteous ones will reply, `Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you?  Or thirsty and give you something to drink?  Or a stranger and show you hospitality?  Or naked and give you clothing?  When did we ever see you sick or in prison, and visit you?'  And the King will tell them, `I assure you, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!'“

Matthew 25:34 – 40 (NLT)

Vision

If this is what Jesus is looking for, then these are the opportunities that we should be searching for.  We know that Jesus is love and we are called not only to love Him, but also to love one another.  There are no parameters given to this instruction of love.  In fact, we are even called to go as far as to love our enemies.  So, if we are called to love even our enemies, then I believe that Jesus would have us love everyone, from Himself to our enemies – including everyone in between. We believe that God is calling us at The Way to live this love.  We have spent much time praying about what to do next as a church family.  We are hesitant to start anything that God Himself has not directed us to start.  We all know that anything that we attempt outside of His will, will lead to frustration. So, how do we go about living this love?  Here is what it will look like in the beginning – however, we must keep in mind that this is Jesus’ ministry and He is free to make any changes at any time!

Reality

One night each week will be our M25 ministry night at The Way.  We will rotate “themes” each week and focus on each of the following aspects of Matthew 25:34-40.

1st Wednesday of the Month ….……………….... “I was sick, and you cared for me.”

2nd Wednesday of the Month  ……………..……… “I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink.”

3rd Wednesday of the Month  …………….………. “I was in prison, and you visited me.”

4th Tuesday of the Month ……………….…….…… “I was hungry, and you fed me.”

Last Wednesday of the Month ……….……..….. Worshipping together at Threshold

"I was sick, and you cared for me..."
The focus of this night will be to visit those who are sick.  Different options here are hospitals, hospices, homes, and friends/family that are suffering from ailments. We are waiting on the Lord to raise up a leader for this ministry night.

If you feel that God might be speaking to you about getting involved/leading this night, please contact Pastor John (jbryant@thewayfellowship.com) or Rich (soulsource7@yahoo.com).

"I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink..."
In John chapter 4, Jesus tells the Samaritan woman that He is Living Water and that anyone who drinks of Him will never thirst again.  This night will be our evangelistic night.  We will simply focus on giving the people of Bakersfield Living Water.  This could look like many different things.  We could hang out at a place such as the Marketplace and witness to people there.  We might plan some sort of an event at the park that is solely focused on distributing Jesus’ Living Water to our community.  We might witness in bars, malls, or in neighborhoods.  Basically, this will be a night of Jesus leading and directing us to those who are thirsty.

This ministry night will be led by Jason Nott.  For more information, or get get involved, please check the mychurch calendar, or you can contact Jason, at jnott@bak.rr.com.
